Q & A about CBD and Pets

Will Dr. Fuzzball’s CBD treats & supplements sedate or get my pet high?

No, CBD has been known to have a remarkable anti anxiety effect on your pet but will not sedate or get them high. CBD is completely non-psychoactive and Dr.Fuzzball’s uses broad-spectrum hemp extract which is THC free.

Is CBD safe for dogs and cats?

Yes, CBD is safe for all vertebrates (animals with a backbone). Keep in mind, that Extremely large doses could possibly interfere with other medications. Dr. Fuzzball’s recommended dosages are low daily doses for ongoing wellness. Your vet can advise you about giving your pet larger doses for ailments that CBD may help with.

Can I give my pet more than your recommended amount of treats/CBD?

You can certainly adjust the recommended daily dosage according to your pet’s size & needs, however, if you wish to give them a significant amount more you should talk to your veterinarian to see if your pet may benefit from higher doses. CBD is known to help with many conditions that our pets experience. If your vet thinks your furchild could benefit from an increase, just be sure to increase the dosage slowly, as it appears that an increase in benefit from higher doses occurs alongside a higher tolerance.

Is CBD effective for Dogs and Cats?

Yes, all animals with a backbone have an endocannabinoid system whereby cannabinoid receptors in the body respond to the activation and or influence of different cannabinoids in the body.

What tests are performed on Dr. Fuzzball’s products to assure they are safe?

Dr. Fuzzball’s hemp oil and products are thoroughly and independently tested. First, the hemp oil is tested for the presence and potency of the major cannabinoids and terpenes such as CBD, CBC, CBDV, CBG, and CBN. THC in all forms is tested to assure there is absolutely none. Further, the oil is tested for the presence of heavy metals and any residual natural pesticides used in organic farming (Much less scary than conventional pesticides, but we still do not want residue in the oil). In addition to the rigorous testing of the hemp extract itself, the end consumer products are made in our WSDA approved kitchen and are tested for cannabinoid presence and potency. All of this helps to ensure that Dr. Fuzzball’s treats, supplements & topicals are among the best and safest on the market!

What is the difference between Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract?

While both contain the full range of naturally occurring cannabinoids and phytonutrients, only Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract has no detectable THC of any kind. The amount of THC in Full Spectrum Hemp Extract is typically less than 3%, perfectly fine and predictable for human use, however, we believe very strongly that any THC should only be administered to your pets under the advice and close supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Though 3% THC is a relatively small amount for humans, dogs have more cannabis receptors in their brains and are more susceptible to the effects of THC. Both cats and dogs are much smaller, have different chemistry, and cannot consent to something that has the possibility of being mind-altering.

My dog/cat is healthy, can they still benefit from Dr. Fuzzball’s treats, supplements & topicals?

Yes, like humans, our canine and feline friends can benefit from the healthy ingredients, potential anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety effects, healthier skin, protected paws, and the myriad of other potential preventative applications that are showing great promise in clinical studies.

Are there any good independent resources if I want to learn more about CBD and its potential effects on animals?

Yes, Project CBD is a vast and wonderful independent source for all things CBD and cannabinoids including hundreds of links to clinical studies. We highly recommend checking it out!
